Query BIM models with natural language
Section titled “Query BIM models with natural language”Interact with your Building Information Models through natural language queries to extract data, understand relationships, and gain insights from your project models.
This capability lets you query your model data, including categories, elements, and properties, using natural language.
Best practices
Section titled “Best practices”BIM models often contain:
- many similar parameter names
- multiple families or types with overlapping naming
- different authoring standards across disciplines
For best results, be specific in your prompt:
- mention the category, such as Walls, Doors, or Rooms
- reference the exact property name when possible, such as Type Name, Level, or Mark
- narrow down by level, zone, or discipline when relevant
Add Context shortcut
Section titled “Add Context shortcut”To make prompting easier and more precise, click Add Context or use the @
key inside the AI chat.
A small dialog appears showing available properties and model entities, so you can insert them into your question without guessing the exact wording.
Example questions
Section titled “Example questions”- Give me the count of elements per Type Name for Doors.
- List all Walls with Unconnected Height greater than 4m.
- Summarize Walls by Base Constraint and include area.
What you get back
Section titled “What you get back”Once you submit a question, Frame will:
- Translate your question into a structured query over the model data.
- Return an interactive result inside the viewer:
- a table with the elements or properties requested
- a chart that summarizes the result for quick analysis
Interact with results
Section titled “Interact with results”From the AI results, you can:
- click rows to highlight elements in 3D
- filter the result set
- isolate the elements in the viewer to focus your review
Download results
Section titled “Download results”If you need to continue analysis outside Frame, use Download CSV to export the returned table.
