Create issues and markers (Alpha)
What this Alpha workflow does
Section titled “What this Alpha workflow does”Use the Frame Excel Add-In to turn an observation in a workbook into an issue with a marker at the relevant model location. The issue keeps the spreadsheet context and the 3D location together so another reviewer can understand what was found and where it belongs.
Create an issue from Excel
Section titled “Create an issue from Excel”- Open the model and the Frame Add-In in Excel.
- Prepare or select the observation you want the team to review.
- Start the issue action from the add-in.
- Add the practical follow-up details, such as a description, status, or responsible person.
- Place the marker at the relevant location in the 3D model.
- Save the issue, then reopen it in the viewer to confirm the location and context.
Information to include
Section titled “Information to include”Give the next reviewer enough information to act without reconstructing the observation from the workbook:
- a concise description of what was observed
- a status that communicates the next step
- responsibility or ownership when it is known
- a marker at the exact model location to revisit
Good uses for the Alpha
Section titled “Good uses for the Alpha”The workflow is a practical fit for quality observations, handover lists, installation checks, and coordination notes that already start in Excel. It is especially useful when a spreadsheet row alone would leave the reviewer guessing which object or area it describes.
Continue from here
Section titled “Continue from here”- Use Frame Excel Viewer to learn the viewer and model navigation controls.
- Use Viewer and sheet interactions to keep worksheet selections connected to the model.
